i can see him bottoming (sometimes) as its not as related to power dynamics and more what feels good but he'd definitely still be in control. as much as the sub has control of the situation too they still *want* the illusion of submission and want to debase themselves/be debased. which i just. cant imagine jonah desiring in any way

also like, sub having more control implies good and safe kink practices and still requires Jonah to trust his partner to be good dom and to pay attention to his comfort. and who would that be. you have to invent ocs for that because none of the people around him fit the bill. /maybe/ Fanshawe when they were still young? but who in the 19th century is doing good and safe kink practice 😭

@kairos-polaris lmaooo yeah fr. jonelias are not doing good bdsm either. like i dont think theyre doing check ins and shit. in fact i dont think theyd even define their dynamic as bdsm at all. jon would just be like, yeah elias hits me sometimes but i like it..

@two-pupils exactly! and also like even if Jon was domming it would still be bad practice, because no way Jon wouldn't take advantage of the situation to compel Jonah. maybe pre s3 Jon? but that man is so sub... also Jonah has no reason to trust him anyway. people got mad at me for saying Jonah wouldn't trust his partner but like. it's not even a kink thing. vanilla thing also requires you to trust your partner to no overstep your boundaries. is it so wild to suggest that Jonah wouldn't trust people whose entire thing is causing trauma and suffering to others to be a good and attentive partner?

@kairos-polaris literally. the only people we see elias having a 'relationship' with is peter and maaybe gertrude (also rayner in the past?). he obviously doesnt trust either of them and keeps secrets and has a somewhat antagonistic relationship with them anyway. his 'friends' in the past he all betrayed and told them nothing of his transformation. the only person i can see as being the closest to him is smirke who, again, he betrayed. jonah has no friends, he trusts NO one.

funniest thing they did in S5 was building up an insane amount of anticipation for 38 episodes straight about elias WATCHING them the whole time from his evil panopticon tower. he's PREPARED for any revenge ideas jon might test out on him. from inside his evil panopticon tower. and then they got to the evil panopticon tower and elias was like this side quest jon had to worry about for like five minutes.

I don't want Jon and Elias to have sex. They need to vivisect each other

Sorry to get into heated top/bottom discourse in 2026 (of course said dynamic doesn't map out to dominance and submission 1:1, but cultural associations with penetration are deeply ingrained and I don't personally think Jonah would be comfortable with them, anyway), but Jonah repeatedly refuses any kind of symbolic vulnerability, even in the absence of material consequences (see my example about him making damn sure everybody knows he is answering Jon's question because he *wishes* to). Kink doesn't exist in a vacuum, and certain characters just wouldn't be comfortable with certain dynamics even in a negotiated space.
